Vectra Networks recently released a new head end hardware model, the X29. An integral new feature of the x29 model is an encrypted drive subsystem.
The cold boot process is substantively different from other Vectra head end models due to this new feature. Customers may experience what, on the surface, appears to be a "boot loop" occurring as the X29 cold boots.
As part of unlocking the encrypted drive subsystem for use, during the cold boot process the appliance will reboot itself, usually once but possibly up to 3 times. It is expected that I/O errors will show on console during this process.
X29 cold boots should succeed within approximately 10 minutes. However, please allow for up to 30 minutes of boot time for these models.
Should an X29 model continue its cold boot cycle for more than 30 minutes, please contact Vectra Support.
